Key objective of the SADC Business Council is to influence of policy at a regional level in order to enhance the business environment in the SADC region. Its approach involves the following:

Formal PPD Structures with SADC
Policy Analysis
Improved analytical basis for identifying and prioritizing policy reforms to improve the SADC Business Environment. Activities include:
- Compilation of national policy issues through member apex bodies
- Harmonization at regional level
- Support design and communication of policy options at national level
Business Environment Reform
Private Sector role in policy harmonization for conducive Business Environment in the SADC Region enhanced. Activities include:
- National and Regional BER Diagnostic Facilitation
- Establishment of an Agenda Setting system for BER issues
Formal PPD Structures with SADC
Formal PPD system through which businesses and business associations can engage the SADC Secretariat in place. Activities include:
- Convening the annual Private Sector Round Table Discussion with SADC Chairperson
- Convening quarterly bilateral BC and SADC Secretariat meetings
- Convening annual SADC Troika and SADC BC meeting
- Identifying meetings to participate in, express interest to participate
