The SADC Business Council (SADC BC) invites you to a Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) and African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Sensitization workshop.
Through the support of the German Development Corporation (GIZ), the SADC BC collaborates closely with the SADC Secretariat to identify and resolve Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) to improve intra-regional trade. Further with the support of the GIZ-CESARE Programme the the SADC BC organises capacity building and sensitisation interventions for the private sector on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
The overall objectives of the workshop are to:
1. Build capacity of the private sector in Angola to understand and interpret the AfCFTA Agreements and its Annexes (Rules of Origin, Tariff Concessions & Non-Tariff Barriers) 2. Sensitise and involve private sector in the implementation of the AfCFTA 3. Sensitise private sector of the various avenues for reporting, and following up on reported NTBs 4. Encourage the private sector to report NTBs through the Tripartite NTB Reporting, Monitoring and Elimination Mechanism (www.tradebarriers.org) 5. Identify challenges Angola private sector players are facing under AfCFTA and resolution of NTBs 6. Flagging out opportunities associated with the implementation of the AfCFTA by the Republic of AngolaMembers from Angolan private sector, including logistics companies, freight forwarders, retail and manufacturing companies, Local Chambers of Commerce, Development partners, Government officials, SADC Business Council, SADC Secretariat, AfCFTA Secretariat are expected to attend the workshop.
