NBF Chairman, Geoff Rothschild and CEO, Peter Varndell recently met with Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, CEO of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (now the African Union Development Agency) to discuss the ongoing relationship between the two organisations.
“Since 2014, the NBF has had an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Agency which broadly outlines inter-organisational cooperation and focus alignment. However, much has changed with the two organisations that we felt that it was time to fine tune the existing agreement.”, said Geoff about the meeting.
Over the past five years, the NBF has refined its value proposition to focus on providing specific support to public and private sector stakeholders working on sustainable development projects in Africa. This transformation has allowed the organisation to strategic support to regional and continental organs such as the Agency and the SADC Secretariat, among others.
“As the Agency evolves in the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD, we need to ensure that we enhance and strengthen the relationship even further. Both Dr. Mayaki and I believe that the value in leveraging off each other and will be seeking further avenues to widen the scope of our working arrangement.”, said Peter on the future of the NBF/Agency relationship.
The NBF will be signing a new MoU with the Agency later in the year.
