The NEPAD Business Foundation (NBF), the Business Council of Southern Africa (BCSA) and the Botswana Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) with the support of the SADC Secretariat hosted the inaugural Southern Africa Business Forum on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 August 2015 at the Gaborone Sun Hotel, in Gaborone, Botswana.
The Southern Africa Business Forum is a public-private dialogue forum, which brought together leaders from the public and private sectors from across Southern Africa. The objective of the forum was to identify shared priorities for enhancing regional integration through trade facilitation, investment, industrial development and infrastructure projects in the region. The overarching theme for the inaugural forum was “Bringing together public, private and civil society in supporting the SADC economic agenda”.
This forum was hosted on the margins of the 36th Heads of State Summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Botswana. The NBF envisions the forum becoming the primary SADC platform for private sector to deliberate and develop recommendations that will be tabled to regional governments at future Heads of States Summits and Ministerial meetings.
